Akkineni Nagarjuna’s son Akhil Akkineni has denied signing up for any Ram Gopal Varma film. The actor confirmed he is off to London for his next with Venky Atluri where Nidhi Aggarwal is his co-star. Akhil said: “I’m not sure who is confirming any such news (of Akhil doing Varma’s film) or why. I’m off to London to shoot my next film. That’s the only thing on my mind right now.” Akhil was expected to team up with Varma for a film soon, however, in the aftermath of the disaster Officer, starring Nagarjuna, and fan protest, the actor reportedly quietly opted out of the Varma project. “Fans always have an opinion of their own. We only try to live up to their expectations,” Akhil said adding that his aim is giving them good films at the end of the day.
Akhil Akkineni will collaborate with Venky Atluri for his third film and the shooting of the film will soon begin. The yet untitled film is said to be another romantic breezy entertainer and will have music by Thaman SS. And according to latest reports, the film may have gotten a title. Reports reveal that Akhil’s film with Venky Atluri is titled Mr Majnu which is yet to be confirmed by the makers. Buzz in Telugu film circles is also that the makers may soon make an official announcement about this. This will be an interesting title because Majnu was title of one of Akhil’s father, Akkineni Nagarjuna’s film, a biggest in his career.
Akhil’s last release, Hello, was a hit flick and got his career back on track after his debut film, Akhil – Power of Jua, was a debacle at the box office. Hello was directed by Vikram K Kumar and was bankrolled by Akhil’s father, Akkineni Nagarjuna.
On the other hand, Venky Atluri had an impressive start to his career as a director in Tollywood with Tholiprema which impressed everyone including audiences and critics. A romantic drama, Tholiprema starred Varun Tej and Raashi Khanna in the lead roles.
