After delivering an impressive performance in Ram Charan starrer Rangasthalam, popular television anchor and actor Anasuya Bharadwaj has now bagged a key role in YSR biopic which is titled Yatra. Directed by Mahi Raghav, Yatra will have Malayalam megastar Mammootty playing the former Chief Minister of the then Andhra Pradesh Y.S.Rajasekhara Reddy. Reports in the media reveal that Anasuya Bharadwaj will be seen playing a politician from the Kurnool district who played a key role during YSR’s regime in AP. Reportedly, Anasuya Bharadwaj will share screen space with Mammootty in the biopic. Apparently, director Mahi Raghav is making sure that popular actors are roped in to play even smaller roles to ensure that the film gets a good star value.
Yatra will also star a lot of other top actors which includes names like Suhasini Mani Ratnam and Rao Ramesh. According to reports in the media, Suhasini would be seen playing the then Home Minister Sabita Indra Reddy and Rao Ramesh would be seen playing K.V.P.Ramachandra Rao who was a very close associate of Y.S.Rajasekhara Reddy.
Y.S.Rajasekhar Reddy was one of the most celebrated politicians in the then Andhra Pradesh and was also the former Chief Minister. A film on his life story has drawn the attention of many and keeping Telugu audience excited about it. To be directed by Mahi Raghav of Anando Bramha fame, Yatra will also star quite a few stars from various film industries making it a star studded one.
Interestingly, Yatra will be Mammootty’s straight Telugu film after almost two decades. Mammootty was last seen in Railway Coolie which was directed by veteran filmmaker Kodi Ramakrishna which released in 1998. Mammootty has now started shooting for Yatra in Hyderabad at a set built at a studio in uptown area. The makers are yet to announce the release date of the film.
