During a recent chat with a leading daily, the much-loved Anushka Shetty opened up about her upcoming film ‘Bhaagamathie’ and said that director G Ashok waited nearly four years before finally getting her nod. Speaking about her role, she said that she will be playing the role of an IAS officer in the film. The star went on to add that ‘Bhaagamathie’ is set in contemporary times and has ample scope for performance.
“A few have misconstrued it as a ghost movie with a reincarnation theme. But it is a contemporary thriller and she is only a fictitious character. I play an IAS officer Sanjana, which is one of the most thought-provoking characters I have ever done. There was plenty of scope for performance, thanks to director Ashok garu who waited for me with the script from 2012,” she added.
Anushka also made it clear that—contrary to perception— she is not playing a double role in ‘Bhaagamathie’.
“I am not playing a double role, but the central character has many dimensions to her,” she added.
Well, we wish Anushka good luck and hope that ‘Bhaagamathie’ sets the box office on fire and helps her continue her reign as the queen of hearts.
Interestingly, Anushka keeps grabbing attention every now and then because of her rumoured relationship with her ‘Billa’ co-star Prabhas. Addressing these rumours, she said that T-town’s ‘Darling’ is her good friend and there is nothing more between them.
“We are just very good friends. And there’s nothing between Prabhas and me except friendship. We are definitely not getting married,” she added.
That is quite a clear clarification and we hope that it puts all the rumours to rest.
On a related note, ‘Bhaagamathie’ will be Anushka’s first release since the phenomena ‘Baahubali 2’.
So, are you excited about the film? Comments, please!
