In November, the lovely Nayanthara gave strong proof of her abilities as a performer when ‘Aramm’ opened to a good response at the box office while receiving good news along the way. In the social-drama, she essayed the collector and proved that she truly is Tamil cinema’s ‘Thalaivi’. Praising the film, Amala Paul had said that it reminded fans of how good cinema still matters.

“Hence proved, good cinema matters, kudos to #Nayanthara and director #GopiNainar , in an industry which is plagued with masala movies scripted for star heroes, #Aramm has proved the formula to be wrong. Good cinema matters, good story matters, good performances matter!” she had added.

Just a month after that, she returned to theatres with ‘Velaikkaran’ and tasted success once again. In the Mohan Raja directorial—which hit screens on December 22—she shared screen space with the fast-rising Sivakarthikeyan and proved her finesse as a performer again. Praising her commitment, SK had said that her dedication to her craft has helped her establish herself as a force to be reckoned with.

“It is a happy moment to act with Nayanthara. I first saw her at the shooting spot of Aegan. Myself and Arunraja were supposed to come in brief roles in the film, and at that time, we saw her. Then, it was Ethir Neechal, where she made an appearance for a song. After that, only at the shooting spot of Velaikkaran, I saw her. The one thing that hasn’t changed at all in all these three film shooting spots, is her punctuality and perfection. That is why, I feel, that she has established a market for herself,” he had added.

Now, with ‘Velaikkaran’ in theatres, Nayan is gearing up for her next big release ‘Jai Simha’. Directed by KS Ravikumar, the film is an action-drama and is slated to hit screens in January. In it, she will be seen opposite Balakrishna. And, needless to say, the return of this popular pairing has created quite a buzz amongst fans. Now, it seems that the curiosity surrounding the film is set to receive a shot in the arm. As it so happens, a new still from ‘Jai Simha’ has been released. And, needless to say, it is quite good. In it, our ‘Lady Superstar’ can be seen spending some time with NBK and enjoying the company to the fullest. Not surprisingly, Nayan looks like a million bucks and leaves us mesmerised. Similarly, Balakrishna too looks absolutely stunning and proved that he is still one stylish onscreen icon. Besides Nayan-NBK, ‘Jai Simha’ also has Natasha Doshi in the lead. Some time ago, she had said that working with KS Ravikumar was a good experience for her.

“He is such a perfectionist! I make sure I sit with him and see the monitor as I can learn so much from him. He pays attention to even the minutest of details; he keeps in mind what should come before a particular shot and what should come after. With his kind of experience, he can actually relax on the set. But, he is always seen working, looking at every scene with different point of views. Despite his stature, he is so humble,” she had added.

On a related note, this is a busy time for Nayan. Besides ‘Jai Simha’, she also has ‘Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy’ and ‘Imaikkaa Nodigal’ in her kitty. ‘Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy’ is a period drama and has been directed by Surender Reddy. In it, she will be seen opposite Chiranjeevi. As far as ‘Imaikkaa Nodigal’ is concerned, it is a thriller and has been directed by Ajay Gananamuthu. In it, she will be seen alongside Atharvaa and Anurag Kashyap. Some time ago, the director had said that the ‘Dev D’ filmmaker is the perfect choice for the role.

“I saw Anurag’s rare combination of subtlety, intensity and unpredictability which is what I needed. Rudra holds the story together. If I couldn’t cast Anurag, I felt my film wouldn’t be complete. The characteristics Anurag displayed were in sync with what I had written. He evokes such fear with his subtle and sheer villainy, making him the perfect choice,” he had told a website.
