Box Office Report: AWE has a steady weekend collection despite mixed response

Its rare to see a film made on an experimental subject in Telugu cinema and the film being embraced by the audiences with open mind and arms. The latest release in Telugu, AWE, is one such movie which released on February 16th, 2018. Directed by newbie Prashanth Varma, AWE has a stunning star cast which includes Kajal Aggarwal, Murli Sharma, Regina Cassandra, Eesha Rebba, Nithya Menen and Priyadarshi besides voice-overs by actor Nani and Mass Maharaj Ravi Teja. The film is presented by Nani himself while it is produced by Baahubali stylist Prashanthi Tipirneni. An amalgamation of various lives woven into a single thread, AWE is connecting with audiences very well and is doing well at the box office. The first day witnessed a collection of approximately Rs.3 crores overall and the weekend was expected to be better because of positive reviews. Collection over the weekend stayed steady and showed a decent growth in the numbers. Saturday and Sunday saw AWE earn a collection of approximately Rs.5.2 crores overall. The US market witnessed the film earn a collection of $323,000 overall.

Made on a meagre budget of approximately Rs.5 crores, day 1 saw AWE earn a collection of Rs.3 crores in Telugu states and approximately $225,000 at the US box office, reports reveal. Nani is seen giving a voice over for a fish while Ravi Teja is seen voicing over for a tree. The visuals of AWE are top notch and the look sported by each character in the film is quite exciting, and something never seen before. While announcing about the film, Nani had said that he loved the storyline of the film when Prashanth Varma narrated it to him and decided to produce right after hearing the story.
