Actor Nandamuri Kalyanram’s MLA hit screens worldwide yesterday, March 23rd, 2018 and has been receiving mixed responses from all around. Directed by newcomer Upendra Madhav, MLA is the story about a young man in a rural town who wishes to do some good for people and has a political theme weaved to it. MLA also stars Kajal Aggarwal as the leading lady and reunites her with her debut movie co-star. MLA opened to mixed responses from audiences and reviews from critics, and had a steady day 1 in terms of collection at the box office. MLA had premiere shows in the US even before the film hit screens in India and had a decent response from the shows there.
Day 1 saw MLA earn a collection of approximately Rs.1.8 crores which includes the collection from the US shows amounting to approximately $89,000. At closing on day 1, the film had a decent occupancy in cinema halls despite mixed reviews and responses, reports reveal. Reports also reveal that the weekend could add more to the collection since there are no other big releases along with this.,
MLA is directed by Upendra Madhav who is an erstwhile associate of director Anil Ravipudi. MLA has music composed by Mani Sharma and is produced by T.G.Vishwa Prasad under the banner Blue Planet Entertainments. Kalyanram hasn’t had a release since ISM with Puri Jagannadh. Many say that he waited for the right script but never got one but his perseverance paid off in MLA. Kalyanram will also be seen in a romantic saga titled Naa Nuvve which is being directed by Jayendra. The film also stars Tamannaag Bhatia as the leading lady and is said to be a romantic drama.
Ravi Kishan plays the antagonist in the film while Vennela Kishore, Ajay, Posani Krishna Murali and Manali Rathod will be seen playing important roles.
