This week saw the release of many movies in South Indian cinema which included Sai Dharam Tej’s Jawaan, Shiva Rajkumar’s Mufti, Tamil films Thiruttu Payale 2 and Annadurai. The films have received a good opening on day 1 of the release and the box office numbers seem to be one the positive side, much to the joy of the makers of the film. Telugu film Jawaan has been on the rise after the first shows received positive feedback and shows in the later part of the day have been running house full. ‘Thiruttu Payale 2’ also opened one a good note and has been getting positive feedback from audiences and critics too. Kannada film ‘Mufti’ starring Shiva Rajkumar and Sri Muralii has become the talk of the town in Kannada film circles and has been receiving rave reviews from all around. The box office numbers of all these movies have been on the positive side, much to the joy of the makers.
Jawaan earned a collections of Approximately INR 4.8 crores in the Telugu states and the US market is said to have clocked a number of approximately $46,000 on day 1. The actual numbers are yet to be reported by the makers of Jawaan.
Kannada film ‘Mufti’ starring Shiva Rajkumar and Sri Muralii clocked approximately INR 2.9 crores in Karnataka lone and the overseas numbers are yet to be announced by the makers. Trade experts are predicting that the numbers will only go up after the weekend shows.
Thiruttu Payale 2 starring Amala Paul, Bobby Simha and Prasanna in the lead roles had a steady start on opening day with theatres in Chennai alone earning a collection of approximately INR 1.7 crores. However, the numbers are expected to go up over the weekend because of the positive word of mouth for the film.
Vijay Antony’s ‘Annadurai’ is the biggest release for the actor so far in his career and the film, too, does well on day 1 of release. The film also released in Telugu as ‘Indrasena’ in Telugu states and is the biggest so far in his career. Annadurai clocked the INR 1.5 crores across Tamil Nadu and after adding the overseas numbers, this is expected to go up.
The box office collections of all these films are expected to go up over the weekend since all the films are receiving a positive feedback from all around.
