According to the latest reports, Pawan Kalyan’s much-hyped ‘Agnyaathavaasi’—which hit screens on January 10—has not been able to work its magic at the box office despite receiving a good response on Day 1. After collecting close to Rs 37 crore at the ticket window on day 1, it witnessed a huge drop in business and ended up collecting just Rs 10.69 crore in the subsequent days. As such, at the end of four days, ‘Agnyaathavaasi’ has not been able to enter the Rs 50 crore mark. Given the high expectations, the makers are bound to be unhappy about this figures.
Interestingly, ‘Agnyaathavaasi’ was ripped apart for its slow screenplay. And, this seems to have affected the business adversely. It will be worth watching if the film’s business picks up in the days to come.
In case you did not know, ‘Agnyaathavaasi’ has been directed by Trivikram Srinivas and marks his first film with PK since the 2013 release ‘Attarintiki Daredi’. Besides Pawan Kalyan, ‘Agnyaathavaasi’ also features Keerthy Suresh in the lead. This is her first film with the ‘Power Star’. Some time ago, she had said that he is a terrific person to work with.
“Pawan Kalyan sir seems very calm but off-screen, he cracks a lot of jokes. Trivikram, Anu and our team used to sit and enjoy his humour. It was like one big family and (the team) was fun to be around. PSPK 25 is a project I really enjoyed working on,” she had told a leading website.
On a related note, with ‘Agnyaathavaasi’ in theatres, Pawan Kalyan is now likely to focus on his political career. At the ‘Agnyaathavaasi ’audio launch, he had said that he hopes to repay his fans for their support after entering politics.
