Kamal Haasan’s upcoming film Vishwaroopam 2 has been a talk of the town since a very long time. The makers of the film have geared up for the promotions and amid everything, the film has landed into trouble. Pyramid Saimira Productions International has filed a suit against Haasan for recovery of Rs 5.44 crore. Justice C V Karthikeyan issued a notice to the actor.
According to the latest report, the Madras High Court today ordered actor Kamal Haasan and his production house Rajkamal Films International to file a reply by Monday over the stall of the film’s release.
The production company has filed the plea saying the money was paid to Haasan’s production house for producing a film titled Marmayogi in Tamil and Hindi. They had reportedly signed a memorandum of understanding with Rajkamal Films on April 2, 2008, for the production of Marmayogi on a budget of Rs 100 crore.
In 2016, the amount due was ₹ 5.44 crore but now the amount had increased to ₹7.75 crore with interest. Now, the production company has knocked the doors of the court to stop the release of his new movie, Vishwaroopam 2 until the matter is not cleared.
On a related note, a complaint has also been filed against Kamal Haasan also for allegedly defaming the late J Jayalalithaa as a ‘dictator’. The complaint has been filed with the Chennai Police commissioner by a lawyer, Louisal Ramesh. The said incident happened during a recent episode of Bigg Boss Tamil 2. He allegedly said, “You know what happened to the dictators that ruled the state”, which the complaint against him claims was a reference to J Jayalalithaa.
Vishwaroopam 2 also stars Andrea Jeremiah, Pooja Kumar, and Shekhar Kapoor, the film has music by Ghibran. The first trailer of the film was released recently and it received an immense response.
Vishwaroopam 2 is releasing in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu on August 10.
