The makers of Duvvada Jagannadham released the second single from the music album of the film which is titled ‘Gudilo Badilo’. The video song became an instant hit with the fans of Stylish Star Allu Arjun and went viral online. The video song crossed a whopping 5 million views on digital platforms. However, Duvvada Jagannadham is now marred with a controversy because of the lyrics in the song which, allegedly, insult the brahmin community.
Brahmin communities and Hindu organisations across the Telugu speaking states have expressed anguish at the lyrics of the song Gudilo Badilo and allege that they are demeaning the rudra stothra. Combining the verses from the rudra stothra with lyrics in a film seems to have raged the communities and they have lashed out at the director of Duvvada Jagannadham, Harish Shankar.
Responding to these allegations, director Harish Shankar posted a video message with an explanation about why they integrated such lyrics and his intention behind those lyrics.” I’m from a brahmin family and I know all the verses of vedas. I never would purposefully or unknowingly let down my community. I have been in the film industry for more than 15 years now and people who have worked with me know what kind of a person I’m,” said Harish Shankar in the video message.

“The reason those wordings were used is because the hero is from a brahmin family and is expressing his feelings to the girl he loves comparing her to the elements that he is only aware of. The hero is a strict follower of brahmin traditions and all that he knows are things related to brahmin culture. And hence, those wordings were to be used,“explained Harish Shankar, who also hails from a Brahmin community.
The director also said that he hopes that people will understand his intention and embrace the movie with love.
