Telugu film industry has been hit with another controversy – casting couch – which has been an ongoing controversy. Actor Sri Reddy, known for her role in Arvind 2, had recently made allegations that she was asked for favors in return for a role in films by many top filmmakers and was never given any work. Sri Reddy also says that the Telugu filmmakers are biased and do not wish to cast Telugu origin girls as lead actors in their films. And in a recent post on her Facebook page, Sri Reddy named director Sekhar Kammula, indirectly though, that he had promised her some work but never honoured it. Sri Reddy even made sexual harassment allegations against the director but her statements in the Facebook post were indirectly hinting at him, and not directly. In a serious turn of event, Sekhar Kammula has lashed out at the actress and said that he is a man who would live and die for character, and he would never do any such activities. Sekhar also said that the allegations were baseless and were being made only to gain something out of it. Sekhar has asked to tender an apology for the allegations made by the actor since his family and people close to him were hurt by these allegations.

In a long Facebook post, Sekhar Kammula wrote, “I could never imagine in my wildest dreams that a woman whom I don’t know, have not seen or never spoken to in person or on the phone can suddenly make these baseless allegations.” Here is the full statement of Sekhar Kammula:

Yesterday a social media post maligning me came to my notice. It is vulgar, demeaning and full of lies. It has caused deep grief to my family, to me and many more who value me.

I could never imagine in my wildest dreams that a woman whom I don’t know, have not seen or never spoken to in person or on the phone can suddenly make these baseless allegations.

Whatever might be their intentions and whoever might be involved in this diabolic act, I would like to say that it is WRONG, IMMORAL and CRIMINAL .

People who know me and my work would be aware of the kind of importance I give to equality of women and their empowerment. I live by my CHARACTER and die by it. I will not spare anyone who tries to point fingers at it.

APOLOGIZE and take back every word that was posted against me or be ready to face legal action, which will include criminal/civil proceedings.”
