Malayalam top star Dulquer Salmaan is going through the best phase in his career with some phenomenal films under his belt. Dulquer will be making his debut in Telugu cinema with Mahanati, the biopic on yesteryear actress Savitri. Dulquer also has Solo, a Tamil-Malayalam bilingual, directed by Bejoy Nambiar in which he will be seen playing the role of an armed officer. And everything seems to be going right for Dulquer Salmaan in his career at the present moment.
Dulquer has impressed everyone in the crew of his debut Telugu film, Mahanati, according to the director of the film Nag Ashwin. In an interview with a leading daily, Nag Aswhin revealed the kind of approach Dulquer had for his role as Gemini Ganesan in the film. “We wanted to understand Ganesan’s character, mindset and how he dealt with his life — based on his interviews and whatever he has written. So more than mannerisms, we agreed to go beyond the physical resemblance,” said director Nag Ashwin.
Nag also had great words of praise for DQ, who he thinks is way beyond his contemporaries. “I think it’s a big deal to have a mainstream actor like him sign the film as it takes courage. A lot of stars have these calculations – about the market, character and time that they would be investing in the project. But Dulquer understood that the soul of the film and it’s a story that has never been done. I understood that he’s the kind of actor you don’t see much. He gives importance to the bigger picture rather than just his role,” added Nag Aswhin.
Mahanati will have Keerthy Suresh playing the role of yesteryear iconic actress Savitri while Samantha Ruth Prabhu will be seen playing a pivotal role in the film.
