Malayalam top star Dulquer Salmaan will be making his debut in Telugu with the much awaited film Mahanati which is a biopic on yesteryear legendary actor Savitri. Directed Nag Ashwin, Mahanati has Dulquer Salmaan essaying the role of Gemini Ganesan while Keerthy Suresh will be seen playing the titular role. Mahanati is slated to be released on May 9th, 2018 worldwide and will be a simultaneous release in Telugu, Tamil and Malayalam. The shooting of the film was recently wrapped up and the post production works of the film are currently under way. Dulquer Salmaan has started dubbing for his portions in Mahanati and will be his first ever attempt at Telugu. Dulquer Salmaan says that he is giving everything for the dubbing in Telugu and also adds that he is working harder than what he did for his exams. Taking to his social networking pages, Dulquer wrote – “Don’t think I’ve worked this hard for exams even !! Giving it my everything to dub in Telugu for the first time !“

The shooting of Mahanati was recently wrapped up and the complete cast and crew of the film was emotional on the last day of shoot. Actor Keerthy Suresh posted an emotional message on her Twitter handle on the last day of the shoot and said that she feels privileged to have gotten an opportunity like this. Mahanati will tell the story of the life of iconic actor Savitri who was one of the biggest female stars in South Indian cinema in 60s. Produced by Swapna Dutt under the banner Vyjayanthi Movies, Mahanati has a stellar star cast which includes Samantha Akkineni, Vijay Deverakonda, Shalini Pandey, Rajendra Prasad, Prakash Raj, Mohan Babu and Bhanu Priya among many others. Mahanati will portray the life of Savitri and will showcase the rise and fall of the yesteryear actor who was married to Gemini Ganesan.
