Malayalam star Dulquer Salmaan will soon be seen playing a character based of the legendary Gemini Ganesan in the eagerly awaited ‘Mahanati’. And, needless to say, say he is looking forward to the same. During a recent interaction with a leading website, Dulquer revealed that he will not be using prosthetics and hence will not look like the yesteryear star at all. He went on to add that he will be ‘himself’ in the film as he really doesn’t know how Gemini Ganesan behaved in real-life.
“I’m not going to look like him. I can’t, honestly, and I don’t want to wear prosthetic. My approach is simple. I would like to be me in the 1950s and play myself if I was a big movie star. I don’t think I should attempt to play Gemini Ganesan, and the director also agreed. You don’t really have any off screen footage of him. You don’t know what kind of person he was off screen,” he added.
Besides this, DQ also added that the young team wanted him on board even though he is not comfortable with Telugu.
“I don’t know Telugu but they (the makers) wanted me to give it a shot. It’s a young team; young director, young producer. The intention is to make something special,” he added.
Well, we hope that these efforts pay off and Dulquer impresses fans with his act in ‘Mahanati’. On a related note, this is a busy time for Dulquer. Besides ‘Mahanati’, he also has ‘Solo’ in his kitty. The film is a romantic-thriller and has been directed by Bejoy Nambiar.
