Actor Ravi Kishan has carved quite a niche for himself in Tollywood because of his villainous acts in films like Race Gurram and Kick 2 to name a few. Now, he is set to play Kalyan Ram’s onscreen rival in MLA, which hits screens tomorrow. Ravi’s intense new avatar has created a buzz amongst fans and could be a major highlight of the film.
In this exclusive interaction with Pinkvilla(South), Ravi Kishan talks about his role in MLA and his rapport with NKR. He also touches upon being a part of Chiranjeevi’s Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy.
Please tell us a bit about your role in MLA. What encouraged you to take it up?
I play a powerful man who is an MLA from a village. His family has been in politics for generations. He is an egotistic man and behaves like a god. The village worships him. On the other the hand, Kalyan Ram plays a simple guy who accidentally provokes him. While watching it, the audience will feel that it is a fight between an ant and a lion. The film touches upon how one manipulates village voters for years and years. This is its beauty. Also the director has done a splendid job. He is a first timer and has made a commercial/entertaining film.
How was the experience of acting with Kalyan Ram?
Kalyan Ram is just a wonderful soul and I have found a brother in him. We have been in touch right from the time we finished the film. He is looking handsome and has worked hard on MLA. I am sure this fan following will increase after MLA.
How is Kajal Aggarwal as a co-star?
She is so full of life and is so connected to god. I have a Shiva connect with her so we chatted a lot during the shoot.
You have played an antagonist before as well. Are you worried about getting typecast?
I am a superstar in my territory. The idea is to come here and feel common. I enjoy working in a new environment and learn a lot from the experience. In my territory, I beat up people on screen and here I get hit onscreen.
You are doing Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy with Chiranjeevi. Are you familiar with his body of work?
I have watched all of megastar’s movies and we love him in the North. His Pratibandh is quite popular. We also watch lot of his dubbed movies. I am fan of megastar and am happy to get the opportunity to work with him.
Given your busy schedule, do things get hectic every now and then?
I run around a lot. I very hard and work in various languages. I am also involved in politics. So, yes, it does get hectic.
What is the one professional goal you want to fulfil this year?
I want to do one more big Telugu film this year. Then I also want to act in one big Hindi and Bhojpuri film as well.
