There are two biopics that are being planned to be made on yesteryear iconic actor and politician Nandamuri Taraka Ram Rao – One by his son, Nandamuri Balakrishna, and the other by filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma which is from Lakshmi Parvathi’s perspective. The news of this biopic has spread like fire and much is being speculated about both these films, but RGV’s has been the one which has caught more attention thanks to the controversies around it. Many said that there is a political backing to the film while few say RGV is honestly trying to portray the life of the iconic actor. It’s a never ending debate!
While all this is happening, yesteryear actress, Vani Vishwanath, who has now started a new innings in politics, has opposed the biopic on NTR by Ram Gopal Varma. Vani Vishwanath, who plans to contest for TDP from the Nagari constituency in Chittoor, says that NTR’s life is an ocean and laced with emotions of his fans, which could be hurt by this biopic. “I feel it genuine to request Ramgopal Varma to drop the project. NTR’s life is just not ordinary, and it is linked with the ocean of his fans,” Vani Vishwanath told The Hindu in an interview.
“The image of NTR would just conjure up Lord Rama and Lord Krishna in the minds of crores of Telugu people and his admirers all over India and world. He is history himself, having ushered in an epoch in the film world and politics as well. I feel the film, targeting NTR personally, would damage his image, and also hurt the sentiments of his fans,” the actress added further.
Vansi Vishwanath acted with NTR in the 1992 film Samrat Ashok which was directed by the iconic actor himself. “When I was on the sets of ‘Samrat Ashok’, NTR himself brought Ms. Parvati with him and introduced her to me. Later, when the TDP returned to power in mid-90s, I went to NTR’s house and met the couple,” she further added.
Looks like this news of biopic on NTR is going to stay in the news for a while.
