A city court on Friday extended, by two weeks, the judicial custody of well-known singer Ghazal Srinivas in sexual harassment case. A complaint against him was registered on 29th December after a radio jockey complained about his misdemeanor. The woman alleged that Srinivas harassed her for nine months, before she filed an official complaint.
The girl alleged that the singer made her do body massage. She also provided video recording and other evidence to the police. Police filed the case against him on the basis of video evidence provided by the 29-year-old complainant, in which she was seen massaging Ghazal Srinivas.
Denying the allegation, Ghazal Srinivas said she always treated the woman like his daughter. Stating that he recently met with an accident and a physiotherapist used to come to him for the massage, he said that one day when he did not turn up, the woman offered to do the massage. He rubbished all the charges levelled against him by the lady and stood by his position of considering her as his daughter.
He was produced before the Nampally Criminal Court, which extended his remand till January 25.
Ghazal Srinivas was arrested on January 2 2018 on charges of sexually harassing a woman in the office of Save Temples Organisation here. He was sent to judicial custody till January 12 2018.
The court had also rejected his bail petition on January 5 2018. Meanwhile, the singer moved a fresh bail petition, which will come up for hearing on January 18.
Ghazal Srinivas, whose real name is Kesiraju Srinivas, was arrested on charges of sexually harassing a woman, working as jockey for a web radio ‘Alayavani’ (voice of temples) run by Save Temples Organisation.
Following the singer’s arrest, Global Hindu Heritage Foundation and Save Temples Organisation suspended him as their brand ambassador.
