The lovely Nayanthara is undoubtedly going through an awesome phase on the professional front these days. In November, the diva added another feather to her cap when her hard-hitting ‘Aramm’ became a commercial success and received rave reviews along the way. Directed by newcomer Gopi Nainar, it featured her in the role of a strong-willed and helped her prove why she is called K-town resident ‘Lady Superstar’. Revolving around the water scarcity problem, it received praise from not just fans but celebs as well. Talking about the film, Sivakarthikeyan had said that it is ‘touching’ story that raised a valid point.
“There is no entertainment quotient in Nayanthara’s Aramm and the makers have made a bold decision of straight away jumping into the strong content. It is a wonderful and touching film which is a must watch for one and all as it touches upon important and essential issues and engages audiences throughout,” he had added.
With ‘Aramm’ under her belt, Nayanthara is currently gearing up for the release of ‘Jai Simha’. The film has been directed by Tamil filmmaker KS Ravi Kumar and will see her star opposite Telugu star Balakrishnna. NBK and ‘Lady Superstar’ have previously collaborated for films such as ‘Simha’ and ‘Sree Rama Rajyam’. As such, fans are bound to have high hopes from their latest film. Now, it seems that the buzz surrounding ‘Jai Simha’ is set to receive a shot in the arm. In an exciting development, the latest poster of the film has been released. And, needless to say, it is quite good. In the poster, Nayan and Balakrishna can be seen in a lively mood as they spend time with each other. NBK looks like usual dashing self and exudes swag. Similarly, Nayan looks beautiful and leaves us mesmerised. That’s what we call making an impact!
As it so happens, Balakrishna was last seen in the action-entertainer ‘Paisa Vasool’ which opened to an okay response at the ticket window despite receiving a mixed response at the box office. Let it be worth watching if ‘Jai Simha’ helps NBK taste commercial success.
On a related note, this is an eventful time for Nayanthara. Her eagerly-awaited ‘Velaikkaran is all set to hit screens tomorrow. It is an action-thriller and has been directed by Mohan Raja. In it, she will be seen alongside Sivakarthikeyan and Mollywood sensation Fahadh. Sometime ago, the directpr had said that Nayan has a strong role in the film.
“In Velaikkaran, Nayanthara plays Mrunalini, her character acts as a huge strength for the hero Sivakarthikeyan, who plays a righteous guy named Arivu,” he had told a leading daily.
Similarly, SK too had praised her at the ‘Velaikkaran’ audio launch and said that her discipline makes her a star.
“The one thing that hasn’t changed at all in all these three film shooting spots, is her punctuality and perfection. That is why, I feel, that she has established a market for herself,” he had added.
Besides ‘Jai Simha’ and ‘Velaikkaran’, she also has ‘Imaikkaa Nodigal’ in her kitty. It is a crime-thriller and also has Bollywood filmmaker Anurag Kashyap in a key role. Talking about casting him in the film, the director had said that he is the best choice for the role.
“I’m a huge fan of Anurag’s films. When I saw him in Murugadoss’s Akira, as the cop-villain, I was convinced he was the perfect choice for the role of villain Rudra. I saw Anurag’s rare combination of subtlety, intensity and unpredictability which is what I needed. Rudra holds the story together. If I couldn’t cast Anurag, I felt my film wouldn’t be complete. The characteristics Anurag displayed were in sync with what I had written. He evokes such fear with his subtle and sheer villainy, making him the perfect choice,” he had told a leading website,” he had told a leading daily.
