Megastar Chiranjeevi has expressed shock and disbelief over the passing away of Sridevi, his co-star in many hit Telugu films. In a video message, Chiranjeevi says that it is tough to believe that Sridevi is no longer with us. “Greatest actor I have ever seen. I never expected that I would hear these words of Sridevi not being with us anymore. Our ‘Athiloka Sundari’ has moved on and gone to the heavenly world, and it’s a bitter truth for me. God has been unjust towards all of us. Passing away at such an early age is something I find hard to digest,” said Chiranjeevi. Chiranjeevi also said that Sridevi’s focus was always on films and acting, and she knew nothing else.

From what I know of her, she only knows acting and nothing else. Since her childhood, her focus and passion were acting and films and that’s something we rarely see. I personally have learnt a lot from Sridevi. At the beginning of my career, I worked in couple of films with her and the biggest of them all is Jagadeka Veerudu Athiloka Sundari. Her portrayal as ‘Deva Kanya’ in the film is something that always astonishes me. The way she owned that role up, I felt that she was born only to play that role. I was mesmerised after watching her performance in the film,” added Chiranjeevi.

Telugu mega star Chiranjeevi and Sridevi acted together in few hit films one of them being the biggest blockbuster – Jagadeka Veerudu Athiloka Sundari. Directed by K.Raghavendra Rao, Jagadeka Veerudu Athiloka Sundari was one of the biggest hits Telugu cinema of that time and is part of many fans’ childhood. Sridevi’s angelic portrayal in Jagadeka Veerudu Athiloka Sundari is always a reference and inspiration to many actresses of today’s generation. The sudden passing away of Sridevi has shocked the world of Indian cinema including filmmakers, actors and fans.
