Akhil Akkineni, younger son of actor-producer Akkineni Nagarjuna, made his debut in acting with ‘Akhil – Power of Jua’ in 2015 which was directed by VV Vinayak. The film tanked at the box office and wasn’t a great start to the career of Akhil, who would have wanted to have started on a great note. However, Akhil waited for a while before he started off on his next film realising the cooling period the dent his career had taken would require. Akhil’s second film, ‘HELLO’, has now hit the screens and right from the first shows, has been receiving formidable response from audiences. ‘HELLO’ is being praised for the action episodes and touching the emotions which probably were never seen before in Telugu cinema. Akhil is being lauded for his performance in the film and reviews suggest that Akhil has taken a giant leap in terms of acting when compared to his first film. While the audience feedback and critic reviews are filled with appraisals for Akhil and the film, the box office reports too seem to be pleasing.
According to end of day reports of day 1, HELLO earned a gross collection of approximately $210,000 in the overseas market on day 1 which is more than double of what his first film, ‘AKHIL’, had made throughout it’s run in theaters. This sure will please Nagarjuna, producer of ‘HELLO’, and the lead actor Akhil Akkineni who has been rooting to get into the success race in Telugu film industry. The box office numbers in the Telugu states and rest of India are yet to be revealed by the distributors. However, trade experts opine that the numbers would be approximately INR 7.5 crores in Indian market.
Directed by Vikram K Kumar, HELLO also marks the debut of Kalyani Priyadarshan, daughter of Malayalam filmmaker Priyadarshan, in Telugu cinema and an in her acting career.
