Sharwanand starrer Prasthanam was one of the terrific hits in 2010 and redefined the career of the actor. Directed by Deva Katta, Prasthanam was a political drama and also starred veteran actor Sai Kumar in an important role. Prasthanam will now be remade in Bollywood and will be directed by Deva Katta himself. The Hindi remake will star Sooraj Pancholi and the young actor will be seen reprising Sharwanand’s role in it. “The shooting of the film will start from May 25 in Lucknow. Unlike Prasthanam, which had a Vijayawada backdrop, its Hindi remake is set in Uttar Pradesh. While Sanjay Dutt will be reprising the role of Sai Kumar, Sooraj Pancholi has been roped in to play Sharwanand’s character and Satyajit Dubey will play Sudeep Kishen’s role,” a source from the unit was quoted as saying by a report in TOI.
The makers have made couple of changes to the script in order to suit the Hindi audience, report further reveals. “There have been certain changes made to the script to suit the sensibilities of the Hindi audience. Deva Katta felt that the love story between Sharwanand and Ruby Parihar was a bit loose in the original version so he has made it meatier and integrated it to the overall plot of the remake. The runtime of the movie also has been trimmed to 2 hours 10 minutes,” the report said further.
The female lead actor and rest of the cast for the remake of Prasthanam are yet to be finalised and soon details will be announced. “The heroine will be finalised in a couple of weeks. As of now, the makers are sticking to the Telugu title for the remake as well,” source added further.
Prasthanam was one of the most intense and riveting films in Telugu cinema and is considered to be one of the most commercially successful films.
