Filmmaker AM Jyothi Krishna, son of eminent producer AM Rathnam, made his debut as a director with a film titled ‘Nee Manasu Naku Telugu’ which was a bilingual and starred Tarun Kumar, Trisha Krishnan and Shriya Saran in lead roles. And since then, AM Jyothi Krishna has made quite a few films and his latest work in Telugu is ‘Oxygen’ with Gopichand in the lead role. ‘Oxygen’ also stars Raashi Khanna and Anu Emmanuel as the leading ladies. ‘Oxygen’ is releasing today worldwide and the director AM Jyothi Krishna says that he has had quite a journey in his career so far.
“I’ve realised the need to be critical of my work. When you’re an outsider, it’s very easy to point out what went wrong. I was conscious of not getting carried away by my own story this time,” AM Jyothi Krishna was quoted as saying by The Hindu. Most of Jyothi Krishna’s films have been bilingual in Telugu and Tamil, and ‘Oxygen’ will stand out as an exception. Speaking about that, AM Jyothi Krishna says, “It’s very tough to make a bilingual, you could end up missing the nativity of both languages. Having considered all things, I think I’ve come here to make a mark as a director of Telugu films first, I wanted to stick to my aim.”
AM Jyothi Krishna’s films, so far, have been a bit away from mainstream and ‘Oxygen’ will be his first movie which will be a commercial potboiler. “Films are about the nava rasas, here you’d find them very situational. There are punchlines, jaw-dropping action sequences and mindgames. My production department experiences came in handy. Every character has an arc in the film, the artistes worked with greater interest,” he further added.
