During a recent interaction with a leading website, Jagapathi Babu opened up about the failure of ‘Patel Sir’ and said that it bombed at the box office as it could match the audience’s expectations. He went on to add that the terrific teaser had raised expectations to such an extent that it just could not deliver the goods.

“I want to talk about Patel Sir and give some clarity about the film’s debacle. The first mistake we made was to release the teaser of the film, which was a huge hit. And that worked against the film and became a minus later. After watching the teaser, the audiences had high expectations from the film. While the audience came for biryani, they were served meals. This worked against the film. Since they expected something else and got something else, the film ended up being a flop,” he added.

He further added that the same thing had happened to ‘Kathanayakudu’ as well.

“The film had Rajinikanth playing the lead, but I had more screen space. While the audience came to watch the groom, they got to watch the best man instead,” he added.

Well, Jagapathi Babu must be given full credit for talking so frankly about the failure of his own film. We hope, he bounces back in style and that too ASAP.

In case you did not know, ‘Patel Sir’ was an action-drama and also featured Padmapriya and Tanya Hope in the lead. Directed by Vasu Parimi, it screens last month.
