Largo Winch director about the Agnyaathavaasi plagiarism controversy: It’s unforgivable

Telugu star Pawan Kalyan’s latest release Agnyaathavaasi—which hit screens this Sankranthi—has turned out to be a box office disappointment and failed to impress critics. In fact, most moviegoers are of the opinion that it is the weakest film of PK’s career. And, now, it seems that there is more trouble for the makers of this drama. During a recent chat with a leading daily, French filmmaker Jérôme Salle lashed out at the makers of Agnyaathavaasi and said that their film is quite similar to his Largo Winch. He further added that the team behind Agnyaathavaasi cannot be forgiven for what it has done.

“I didn’t really enjoy the movie because there are too many similarities to my own film — it’s not just the storyline, but also the sets, like the terrace where the last fight takes place. That’s unforgivable,” he added.

Jérôme Salle also made it clear that he will not take the matter lying down and expects a clear explanation/apology from the Agnyaathavaasi team.

“As I just said, I think silence is not an option. I will not give up until I have a clear explanation. It’s not a matter of money, not at all; it’s a matter of principle. If Agnyaathavaasi makers want to talk, if they want to clarify and, who knows, even apologise… there’s still time. Let’s hope Agnyaathavaasi makers will understand my state of mind — single-minded,” he added.

This is a developing situation and it will be worth watching what happens next.

In case you did not know, Agnyaathavaasi has been directed by Trivikram Srinivas and also features Keerthy Suresh in the lead. It had created quite a buzz courtesy its trailer and was expected to well at the ticket window.
