Telugu film industry ended the year 2017 on a good note with couple of big ticket films getting a great response at the box office, two of them being – Okka Kshanam starring Allu Sirish and Hello! Starring Akhil Akkineni. Okka Kshanam is directed by Vi Anand who earlier made Ekkadiki Pothavu Chinnavada while Hello! Is directed by Vikram K Kumar who has hits like Manam, Ishq and 24 to his credit. Okka Kshanam and Hello! Released a week apart and both the films had a decent run at the box office. Latest numbers reveal that Okka Kshanam had a better run than Hello! at the box office and has made approximately INR 23 crores at the box office so far. Hello! has crossed the INR 14 crore mark in its run so far at the theatres. These numbers are excluding the overseas collections of the films where the films have had almost a similar run at the box office.
Both the films are high-concept thrillers with romance. Hello is about lovers separated at childhood, trying to find each other – their only missing link being a phone that can connect the two. Okka Kshanam is based on concept of the ‘parallel life’ where the protagonist comes to know about the future & has to protect his girlfriend from being killed. Starring Kalyani Priyadarshan as the female lead Hello is produced by Nagarjuna under his home banner ‘Annapurna Studios’ while Okka Kshanam stars Surabhi and Seerat Kapoor and is produced by Chakri Chigurupati.
The debate about which one is a bigger hit within the industry about these two films has been on for a while now. However, trade experts claim that Okka Kshanam has had the edge over Hello. “The clash has led to tension brewing between Akhil and Sirish who are known to be friends. A testimony of the rift is seen on social media with Allu Sirish’s congratulatory wishes to Akhil Akkineni on Hello being left unanswered by the ‘Akhil’ actor,” a source inside the industry reveals.
