#LetHerRestinPeace – Celebrities start a campaign requesting everyone not to trivialise Sridevi demise case

As news from Dubai comes that family members of Sridevi Kapoor have arrived at the morgue to receive the mortal remains of the superstar, many celebrities have started a social media campaign asking media houses to refrain from trivialising the case. Named #LetHerRestinPeace , actors are taking to their respective social networking pages and are requesting everyone to not sensationalise the demise of an iconic actress who has entertained the nation of India for more than four decades with her films in various languages. Rana Daggubati, Taapsee, Hansika Motwani, Allu Arjun, Allu Sirish, Kajal Aggarwal and Pranitha Subhash among many other actors tweeted a photo of Sridevi with the hashtag #LetHerRestinPeace. This has started after few TV channels started doing analysis on the cause of death of Sridevi which was mentioned as accidental drowning in a bathtub in the death certificate. Few TV channels had gone to the extent of recreating the bathtub accident and have also created a ‘panel’ discussing what could have led to the ‘accidental drowning’.

The forensic report also said that there were traces of alcohol found in Sridevi’s blood samples, many reports on television started doing rounds that she could have fallen into the bathtub accidentally and could have lost conscious. This kind of approach is being slammed by many celebrities including few senior journalists and have termed it as ‘murder of jounalism’.

While the initial reports suggested that Sridevi passed away due to a cardiac arrest, the forensic report, which came out after 24 hours, revealed that the actor passed away due to accidental drowning in the bathtub of the hotel room she was staying at. This report led to a lot of speculations around the news and soon the chaos started. Few hours after the forensic report was revealed, the Dubai Police Department transferred the case to the Dubai Public Prosecution according to standard procedure as is done in any case of a death outside a hospital in Dubai. A leading daily in UAE, Khaleej Times, has been posting the latest updates on their Facebook page about the progress of the case which so far is at a juncture where the mortal remains of Sridevi are yet to be handed over to the family members of the actor.
