Mahesh Babu’s SPYDER strikes gold at box office; Grosses INR 100 crores in less than a week

Super Star Mahesh Babu’s latest release Spyder becomes the biggest film in his career to have opened to such a big release. Released simultaneously in Telugu and Tamil, Spyder grossed a whopping amount of INR 45 crores on the first day of release. Directed by A.R. Murugadoss, Spyder features Mahesh Babu in the role of an intelligence officer, a role he hasn’t essayed in his career so far. Spyder opened with huge expectations on it and day 1 of the release was the biggest grosser in South Indian cinema after Baahubali.

As of Monday evening, the collections of Spyder crossed the INR 100 crores according to the makers. The numbers include the overseas collection, which has gone higher over the weekend. Even though the film received mixed response on day 2, the collections seem to have gone up over the weekend in India and overseas as well. Released during the festive season of Dussehra, Spyder seems to have suck struck gold at the box office.

Besides Super Star Mahesh, Spyder also features SJ Suryah as the antagonist while Rakul Preet plays the leading lady in the film. The film also features actor Bharath, of Boys fame, in a brief role which has few negative shades too. Movie-buffs and Mahesh Babu fans are lauding the efforts of the actor’s attempt to do an offbeat subject with commercial viability.
