According to a leading daily, the makers of Mahesh Babu’s eagerly-awaited ‘Spyder’ have decided against releasing the film in Hindi. The Hindi dubbed version was originally supposed to hit screens alongside the Tamil and Telugu versions, however, the plan got dropped at the last minute.
Explaining the reason for this decision, a source said that the makers were not sure if it would be able to generate enough curiosity in the Hindi markets and hence decided to refrain from releasing it in Hindi. The source went on to add that the makers were also worried that comparisons with the ‘Baahubali’ juggernaut would dampen its prospects even further.
“A lot of publicity is necessary for a proper release, and eventual good openings. If they release the film without any of that hype, the audience will treat it like a dubbed film and collections will be below one crore, which is not good for an actor as popular as Mahesh Babu. Instead, it’s better to drop the idea and sell the satellite rights. People compare every film with Baahubali and that is also another fear factor,” added the source.
Interestingly, Mahesh Babu is quite popular amongst Hindi speakers as well. As such, this recent development is bouind to leave some fans heartbroken. Anyway, we wish team ‘Spyder’ the very best and hope that the film does well bat the box office.
In case you did not know, ‘Spyder’ is touted to be a spy-thriller and has been directed by AR Murugadoss. Besides T-town’s ‘Prince’, it also features Rakul Preet in the lead.
