Regina Cassandra hasn’t been in the great of forms in the recent past. Her last three releases, Jyo Achyutananda, Shourya and Soukhyam fared average at the box office and weren’t any blockbusters. But she was getting the right kind of offers. She is currently working on Nakshatram which is being directed by Krishna Vamsi. She also has a couple of Tamil films – Silukkuvarupatti Singam and Saravanan Irukka Bayamaen lined up this year. What really was standing out was her debut in Bollywood. She was offered a role in the sequel of Bollywood hit Aankhen alongside Amitabh Bachchan to be directed by Anees Bazmee. That really decked up her career. But going by latest developments, this seems to be a major setback.
Recent reports are suggesting that director Anees Bazmee is looking to shelve this project since none of the actors is allocating dates for the upcoming schedules and wants some changes in the scripts too. “Regina has pinned high hopes on Aankhen 2 and except Nakshatram, where she plays a cameo, she didn’t sign any other film citing date issues. Her hopes were dashed as the project doesn’t seem to be happening as of now,” a source was quoted in a leading daily.
An official confirmation about this news is awaited. Aankhen 2 was planned to be released on Diwali 2017 but looking at these developments, it might not be a possibility.
Regina is currently working on Nakshatram which stars Sundeep Kishan and Pragya Jaiswal as the leads, and directed by Krishna Vamsi.
