2018 will be raining biopics in South Indian cinema, specially in Telugu film industry. A biopic on yesteryear actress Savitri is being made which is titled ‘Mahanati’ and has Keerthy Suresh playing the titular role. Nandamuri Balakrishna recently announced that he would soon kick off the biopic on his father yesteryear actor and former CM, Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao which will be directed by Teja. And now, another biopic gets added to the list. It is being reported that a biopic on former Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, YS Rajasekhar Reddy is currently in the pipeline and will be directed by Mahi Raghav who shot to fame with Anando Bramha starring Taapsee Pannu. It is being said that the script of the biopic is currently being worked on and soon an official announcement would be made. However, reports are also doing rounds that Malayalam top star Mammootty may be roped in to play the lead role of YS Rajasekhar Reddy. The makers haven’t yet confirmed this development about the biopic, however it is confirmed that a biopic on YS Rajasekhar Reddy is in the pipeline.
Mahi Raghav, who shot to fame with Anando Bramha, will helm this project and more details like the cast of the film will soon be revealed. “Yes, we are working on the project. Since the film is still in the scripting stage, it is premature to comment,” Mahi Raghav was quoted as saying by a report in DC. However, he didn’t confirm if Mammootty will be playing the part in the film. The film is yet to be titled and will be bankrolled by Vijay Chilla and Shashi Devireddy. This gets added to the long list of biopics which includes Mahanati, Uyyalawada Narasimha Reddy, Pullela Gopichand and Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao. Looks like 2018 is going to be one of the exciting years in Telugu film industry.
