Indian film industry and its fans were in shock today after reading a statement by a veterab leading Bollywood actress of 90s – Sonali Bendre. The gorgeous actress has been diagnosed with a high-grade cancer for which she is receiving treatment in New York, revealed the actress in an official statement. Sonali Bendre took to Twitter and released an official statement which had an emotional and yet a fighting message in it.

Sometimes, when you least expect it, life throws you a curveball. I have recently been diagnosed with a high grade cancer that has metastised, which we frankly did not see coming. A niggling pain led to some tests, which led to this unexpected diagnosis. My family and close friends have rallied around me, providing the best support system that anyone can ask for. I am very blessed and thankful for each of them,” wrote Sonali  Bendre-Behl in her statement. Twitterati reacted to this sad news today and many celebrities from various film industries posted messages giving her strength.

Sonali Bendre has acted in quite a few Telugu films which includes Indra staring megastar Chiranjeevi in the lead role. Sonali Bendre made her debut in Telugu with Mahesh Babu’s Murari which was directed by Krishna Vamsi. She later appeared in films like Manmadhudu alongside Akkineni Nagarjuna, Indra and Shankar Dada MBBS opposite Chiranjeevi and Khadgam alongside Srikanth. Having shared screenspace with top stars of Tollywood, Sonali Bendre is one of the most popular actresses amongst Telugu audiences.

Sonali Bendre, who hasn’t acted much in films lately, was much loved by the Telugu audience for her cute looks and impressive performances. Sonali Bendre also appeared in the Tamil song Humma Humma from the film Bombay starring Arvind Swami and Manisha Koirala which was directed by Mani Ratnam. However, Sonali hasn’t acted in any Tamil films as yet.
