Market for web series is not very mature yet, says Rana Daggubati

The Baahubali actor says that it might take more time for him to venture into the digital platform segments.

Rana Daggubati has a film slated for release this Friday, Nene Raju Nene Mantri, which has him playing a ruthless man aiming to become a top politico one day. Nene Raju Nene Mantri will be the first release for Rana Daggubati after Baahubali and the expectations on this film are towering high. The trailers and the songs released so far have created huge buzz and the film promises to be an entertainer too. Interacting with the media before the release of the film, Rana Daggubati touched upon things he has been exploring and about his television stint as well.

His show, No.1 Yaari, on a popular Telugu television is going great guns and has received overwhelming response so far. Talking about, Rana Daggubati told a news agency, “Television is a great medium, but it’s still very young for an actor like me to figure out. This space has been explored by seniors such as Nagarjuna and Chiranjeevi but youngsters like Tarak (Jr NTR) and me are still figuring it out.

When asked if his stint on television could extend to web series and digital platforms, Rana says it might take more time. “We are writing and developing a bunch of things. The market is not very mature and we don’t know its size yet. You could do something in a lakh or even on a budget of a crore. It will take time,” added Rana.

Nene Raju Nene Mantri features Kajal Aggarwal who plays Rana’s wife in the film. The film is directed by Teja and is hitting the screens on August 11th, 2017.
