It is no secret that MM Keeravni is going through a good phase on the professional front these days. His tunes in ‘Baahubali 2’ received the thumbs up from fans and critics alike and gelled well with the narrative. Moreover, the SS Rajamouli directorial emerged a big hit at the box office.
During a recent interaction with some BFI students, Keeravani revealed that he once told Rajamouli to make Baahubali in one part rather than two. However, at the same time, he added that he was happy about how the filmmaker trusted his instincts and ended up delivering two successful films.
“When Rajamouli narrated the story, he asked me for an advice, whether to do the film as a two-part or a single film. I advised him to make Baahubali as just one single part, because, a film of this scale, involving many artists and technicians was believed to face any kind of hurdles. So, to avoid that, I opted to do it as a single part film. But somehow that didn’t take place. It was finally made in two parts for which I am very happy. For the first time, I am very happy that my judgment was wrong. Not wrong, but it didn’t happen. Because of doing this as two parts, this kind of huge achievement has taken place,” he added,
For the uninitiated, ‘Baahubali’ hit screens in 2015 while the second part arrived in theatres this April. Both parts were successful and received rave reviews. Prabhas played the lead in both parts. Touted to be an epic drama, the ‘Baahubali’ saga revolved around the rivalry between two brothers over an ancient kingdom.
