Director Mohan Krishna Indraganti is gearing up for the release of his upcoming film titled Ami Thumi. The film features Eesha Rebba, Aditi Myakal, Srinivas Avasarala, Adivi Sesh and Vennela Kishore in the lead roles. Touted to be a comic entertainer, Ami Thumi is very exciting and empowering according to director.
Speaking to a news agency during the promotions of Ami Thumi, Mohan Krishna Indraganti said,” This film has tons of social references, but we have done it in a way it doesn’t offend anyone. There are references about demonetisation, about arranged marriage, about people’s obsession with mobile phones and how we are still caught in certain notions about our own culture.”
Comedy has been the genre of his previous films too and speaking about it the filmmaker says,” Comedy is very empowering. We should all be ready to make fun of ourselves, just to see how ridiculous we are as human beings under certain circumstances. I like to write humour that’s healthy as it helps in studying human psychology.”
“Comedy is one of the most underrate genres. In any creative format, it’s really difficult to write comedy because you can’t negotiate with the audience. Either I make them laugh or I can’t. When it comes to comedy, it’s about the timing of the joke and audiences have to connect with it instantly,” opines Mohan Krishna.
The director also says that Ami Thumi will be one of the funniest films in his career. “It’s easily the funniest film of my career. There’s a lot of wordplay, and it’s written in such a way that there is no time to pause and cut to a song,” adds the director.
Ami Thumi is hitting the screens on June 9th, 2017 worldwide.
