Last year, Telugu superstar Nagarjuna and Tamil actor Karthi won the love of moviegoers thanks to their crackling chemistry and relatable performances in the much-loved ‘Oopiri’. Moreover, the film too did well at the box office and gave fans a big reason to rejoice,
Now, ‘The Intouchables’—the original version of ‘Oopiri’—is all set to be remade in Hollywood. According to reports, the Hollywood version will feature Bryan Cranston, Kevin Hart and Nicole Kidman in the lead. If all goes as planned, the ‘Breaking Bad’ star will be playing the role of a differently-abled millionaire while Kevin will be playing the role of his caretaker in the attempted remake. Interestingly, Nagarjuna had played the millionaire while Karthi had played his caretaker in ‘Oopiri’. The remake has been titled ‘Upside’ and is expected to hit screens in 2018. It goes without saying that comparisons with ‘Oopiri’ are bound to happen.
On a related note, sometime ago, filmmaker Vamsi Paidipally had said that directing ‘Oopiri’ has made him a more responsible person.
“It changed me as a filmmaker and made me more responsible. It earned me immense respect from various quarters. Some of the messages and calls I received post the film’s release made me very emotional,” he had added.
On a related note, this is a busy time for Karthi as well as Nagarjuna. Karthi will soon be seen in ‘Theeran Adhigaram Ondru’ which also features Rakul Preet in the lead. As far as Nagarjuna is concerned, he currently has ‘Raju Gari Gadhi 2’ in his kitty.
