Filmmaker Teja opted out of the NTR biopic. Since then there have been speculations on who will take his place as a director. Reportedly, Teja opted out of the biopic, citing the reason that he won’t be able to handle the project on the large scale. Later, K Raghavendra Rao’s name came up as the first choice of the filmmakers to helm the project. But the veteran filmmaker declined the offer to direct the film citing health reasons.
Now according to recent reports, Balakrishna has decided to direct the NTR biopic himself. The 57-year-old who is playing his dad in the film has decided to don the director’s hat.
TOI quoted a source saying, “After director Teja decided to walk out of the film due to creative differences with Balayya, K Raghavendra Rao was the first choice of the filmmakers to helm the project. But the veteran filmmaker declined the offer to direct the film citing health reasons. So Balayya decided to take up the reins of directing the film, himself and will be making his directorial debut with the NTR biopic. It has always been Balakrishna’s dream to direct a film, and he felt that there could be no better project than this to fullfil his dream.”
The report further quoted the source saying, “Since this is Balakrishna’s first film as a director, Raghavendra Rao agreed be there with him at every step and has come on board to play a supervisory role. The shooting will begin from next month and the crew is excited to get started.”
The biopic will feature Balakrishna himself in the titular role and will portray the life of NTR from the time he made an entry in films till he became the Chief Minister of then Andhra Pradesh, reports reveal.
Well, Balakrishna ends up directing the film himself but has requested the senior director to at least supervise the project.
