On Monday, Telugu superstar Pawan Kalyan started his three-day-long political tour ahead of the 2019 elections and added a new dimension to his career. At the end of day 1, the much-loved actor interacted with the media and answered a question about his future in the film world. Talking about his future plans, he said that movies are no longer a priority as he wants to dedicate all his time to his political ambitions.
“Movies are out of my mind. Right now, the focus is on politics,” he added.
While the ‘Power Star’ did not explicitly say that he will be quitting films, his answer suggests that he will be bidding adieu to the film world soon. Either way, we wish him good luck and hope that he finds plenty of success i8n the days to come.
In case you did not know, in 2016, PK had dropped a strong hint about his days in the film world being numbered and said that he did not enjoy shooting in exotic locales.
“I don’t enjoy getting ready for shoot, applying make-up and dancing to some tunes in exotic locations. Sometimes the expectations and pressure is so much, I find it so demanding, because I know my limitations as an actor,” he had added.
On a related note, PK was last seen in the big Sankranthi release ‘Agnyaathavaasi’. A Trivikram directorial, it opened to a good response at the box office, however, things soon went South and the film ran out of steam at the ticket window. To make matters worse, fans and critics criticised it for its weak writing. Besides PK, it also featured Keerthy Suresh and Anu Emannuel in the lead.
Interestingly, ‘Agnyaathavaasi’ is PK’s second consecutive failure. Last year, his ‘Katamaryadu’ too had under-performed at the box office. It was a remake of ‘Veeram’ and also had Shruti Haasan in the lead.
