Telugu film industry is currently going through an embarrassing phase after actor Sri Reddy began her protest on casting couch. Sri Reddy started off with allegations by saying many top producers and director have exploited her sexually promising work in their films but never got an opportunity. Few days later, Sri Reddy stripped her clothes in front of the Telugu Film Chamber office in Hyderabad protesting the casting couch in the Telugu film industry. Sri Reddy later revealed that it was Abhiram Daggubati, son of producer Suresh Babu and brother of Rana Daggubati, who exploited her sexually in the name of getting her introduced to big directors. The latest names to get added to the list of Sri Reddy is writer-producer Kona Venkat who, she says, had forced her at his guest house in Hyderabad.
Pawan Kalyan, who was interacting with the media today about the Unnao and Kathua rape cases, responded to the allegations of Sri Reddy and gave his opinion. Pawan Kalyan said that Sri Reddy should approach the police officials and file a complaint against the people who cheated her and exploited her. Pawan Kalyan further added that had the police officials don’t take any action, then it makes sense to do these kind of protests, but starting off the issue with this kind of sensationalising protests will only be damaging to her.
Sri Reddy, during one of her news channel interviews, revealed that Abhiram Dagguati had forced her to have sex with him at his studio in Hyderabad and later avoided her. Sri Reddy was handed a ban by the Movie Artists Association (MAA) after her striping protest against the casting couch however later it was revoked after the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) issued notices to the Telangana government and the Information and Broadcast Ministry in the case.
