Bigg Boss Telugu 1 contestant and film-critic Mahesh Kathi has been banned for six months by the Hyderabad police for his controversial remarks over Lord Rama made recently on a television debate show. The Telangana DGP today told the media that he has been asked not to enter Hyderabad for six months in order to avoid any unforeseen incidents.
“Keeping in view the derogatory statements by Mahesh Kathi on multiple occasions leading to hurting of sentiments of large sections of people and adversely affecting even tempo of life, Kathi Mahesh has been externed from the city of Hyderabad for the next 6 months under the Telangana Prevention of Anti-Social and Hazardous Activities Act, 1930 and he has been taken out of the city to be dropped at his native place in Chittoor district,” Telangana DGP Mahender Reddy said at a press meet today.
This move by the police officials comes after cases were filed against Mahesh Kathi at various police stations for his remarks over Lord Rama and Ramayana. Speaking in a debate show on a Telugu news channel, Mahesh Kathi had made these remarks which irked a lot of people and groups including Seer Swami Paripoornananda. Various groups had protested these remarks by Mahesh Kathi and had even threatened to conduct a rally in Hyderabad.
Controversies are not new to Mahesh Kathi and has often found himself amidst these kinds of issues. In the past, Mahesh Kathi was threatened by the fans of actor Pawan Kalyan after the film critic bashed the film, Kaatamaaryudu, in his review. Mahesh Kathi was given death threats on various social media platforms which did not stop him from any of these doings. Mahesh Kathi has also been talking about Pawan Kalyan’s political journey for which, too, he faced the heat from fans of the star.
