Ram Gopal Varma and Akkineni Nagarjuna have now teamed up for a cop crime drama titled Officer which had got fans of Telugu cinema quite excited. The duo has delivered hit films like Shiva and Govinda Govinda in the past and their reunion now after almost three decades has made fans root for their combination. Officer is slated to be released on June 1st, 2018 worldwide and the makers held a pre-release event in Hyderabad which was graced by the complete cast and crew of the film. and during the event, many celebs spoke including the director Ram Gopal Varma. And whenever this man speaks, you are in for a treat for sure and he didn’t disappoint this time either.
Ram Gopal Varma made a walk to the stage at event and was accompanied by foreign women who are often spotted as supporting actors or dancers in films. And clearing the speculation in the air around women accompanying him, RGV said, “I swear this idea to get these girls is not my idea. I think it’s a prank by someone from my own team” leaving everyone in the audience in splits.
Varma then moved to what inspired him to make Officer with Nagarjuna and said, “When I was school and college, people sitting in the back rows used to throw chalks and do a lot of notorious stuff from behind. And to me, they were like heroes. And I made friends with a lot of these kinds of people. And later, I started looking at street goondas, gangsters and henchmen like heroes. And I have done movies solely based on those ideas. I ran out of ideas in that genre. And that’s when I thought ‘what if a cop becomes a criminal?’.“
What really may surprise everyone is RGV sounded a bit emotional too which is not his forte in reality. Thanking Nagarjuna for his support, Ram Gopa Varma said, “A lot of people wish to become filmmakers but not many get the opportunities to pursue that. In life, there has to be a person who can give you those opportunities. I haven’t done any good things in life, haven’t respected elders, haven’t prayed to god ever.. And despite me not doing any good deeds in life, I got a good man called Nagarjuna in my life.”
