Powerful actor Rana Daggubati, who has always surprised his fans with outstanding roles in his films, is all set to star in a biopic on wrestler Kodi Rammurthy Naidu. Yes, this is a dream role that Rana has always been looking forward to. The Baahubali star will be seen playing the role of wrestler Kodi Rammurthy Naidu, who was popularly known as Indian Hercules on screen. Reportedly, the actor has already started working on the project and the makers have geared up with the pre-production. The untitled project will be made into Hindi and Telugu. Well, not much about Rana’s role has been revealed but the actor makes it pretty clear that the film is in making and has already started prepping up for the same.
“I grew up reading about him in books. It’d be a dream role and a fitting tribute to the legendary wrestler from south India,” Rana said in a statement.
However, a lot of things are yet to be finalized. The film will be bankrolled by popular Hindi production house along with an international studio. However, there is no official confirmation regarding the same yet.
In early 2017, in a media interaction, Rana confirmed that he has plans to make a film on the life of Naidu. “I love wrestling and sports. I want my love for wrestling to translate on screen. I’m planning to make a film on the life of wrestler Kodi Rammurthy Naidu. I don’t know when will the project materialize, but I really want to this film to get made,” Rana had said.
Kodi Rammurthy Naidu was an Indian bodybuilder who earned enormous respect for India in the field of wrestling. He established a Circus (company) and earned a lot of money but donated it to the charitable trusts and contributed a lot in the Indian independence movement. With an undefeated record of over 5000 bouts, Naidu was awarded the title of ‘Indian Hercules and ‘Kaliyuga Bhima’ by King George.
On the work front, Rana will be seen in Haathi Mere Saathi, a Prabhu Solomon directorial film. The film will feature Rana in a new avatar. It is a tribute to Rajesh Khanna’s yesteryear classic of the same name and will highlight the relevance of nature in man’s life.
He is also making his Malayalam debut in a historical period film where he’s playing the King Of Travancore. Rana Daggubati has also lent his voice for Thanos in Avengers: Infinity War (Telugu).
On a related note, 2017 was a good year for Rana. He started off the year with The Ghazi Attack which did well at the box office and received rave reviews. Thereafter, he delivered a solid performance in Baahubali 2 and became the darling of T-Town. His final release was Nene Raju Nene Mantri which did well at the box office and earned critical acclaim.
