Rana Daggubati unveils the title logo of 'Haathi Mere Saathi'

There can be no denying that the suave and stylish Rana Daggubati has had a terrific year so far. He began 2017 with the well-received ‘The Ghazi Attack’ and gave his fans a big reason to rejoice. A Telugu-Hindi bilingual, it also featured Taapsee Pannu in a brief role and fared well at the box office. Talking about the film, he had told a leading daily that is based on a real-incident but has been fictionalised.

“Ghazi is inspired by true events but is a fictionalised version. A few documents pertaining to the sinking of P.N.S. Ghazi are classified and hence out of our domain. The film is a combination of facts, stories shared by retired naval officers in Visakhapatnam and Sankalp’s book. The names of officers and characterisation are fictional,” he had added.

Thereafter, he struck gold at the box office with ‘Baahubali 2’. The film was an epic-drama and saw him essay the role of the heartless antagonist. In it, he between toe-to-toe with Prabhas and felt fans spellbound with his intensity. Talking about his rapport with Prabhas, he had said that working with T-town’s ‘Rebel’ was a terrific experience for him.

“Prabhas is the sweetest and simplest person you will ever meet in life. He is not someone who would have the biggest of aspirations, big things and much hype. He is somebody who just loves movies and he will do anything for movies,” he had told Pinkvilla South in an exclusive chat.

The good news, however, did not end with ‘Baahubali 2’ as he tasted success again with ‘Nene Raju Nene Mantri’. A political-thriller, it was directed by Teja and saw Rana essay the role of a politician with much finesse. Talking about it, he had told a leading daily that it had a ‘House of Cards’ feel to it.

“I love the characters in Wolf of Wall Street and House of Cards. The characters in Teja’s film have many shades, including grey,” he had told a leading daily.

Now, Rana is in the limelight again. Earlier today, he took to Twitter and unveiled the title logo of his latest film ‘Haathi Mere Saathi’. The logo is quite good and gels quite well with the title. The film is a Prabhu Solomon directorial and will be a Tamil-Hindi-Telugu trilingual. Recently, he had said that the film is a tribute to Rajesh Khanna’s yesteryear classic of the same name. Recently, he had told a leading daily that it is going to revolve around the relationship between us and nature.

“There’s a very exciting physical language to the character I’m playing in Haathi Mere Saathi and is completely different from what I’ve done in the past. I’ve always wanted to be a part of content that can travel across the country. It’s a rare story about the relevance of nature in our lives, narrated through a wonderful relationship between man and elephant. Prabhu Solomon’s passion for nature and elephants makes him the finest craftsman in the country who can handle a story like this,” he had added.

If all goes as planned, the first look will be revealed on 1 January 2018. On a related note, this is a busy time for Rana. Besides ‘Haathi Mere Saathi’, he also has ‘1945’ in his kitty. Sometime ago, he had said that he will be playing the role of a soldier in the film.

“It’s a story about a soldier who fought in the INA regiment of Subhas Chandra Bose. It’s set in a turmoil kind of situation after the Tamil moves to South East Asia and Telugu moved to Burma. It’s being shot in Telugu and Tamil, a bilingual. It is being directed by Sathya Sivan,” he had told Pinkvilla South.
