The Telugu film industry is currently under the scanner after the Telangana Excise Department nabbed drug lord Calvin Mascarenhas in Hyderabad. Calvin is said to be the kingpin behind the drug supply in Hyderabad which is now said to have been linked with Tollywood. Calvin, apparently, has told the officials that a lot of celebrities from the Tollywood are in contact with him and purchase drugs from him.
Post the interrogation of Calvin, the Excise Department officials announced that they have sent notices to few celebrities from Tollywood to appear from questioning in connection with the drugs case. Top names from Tollywood like director Puri Jagannadh, actor Ravi Teja, Charmme, Navdeep, Nandu and Tanish among others have popped in the drugs case. All these celebrities have denied having any connection with Calvin but rumours are doing rounds that there might be some involvement.
While all this is happening, actor Ravi Teja’s mother has condemned all these allegations and said that his son is innocent and no way related to the drug case. Speaking to a leading Telugu news channel, Ravi Teja’s mother, Rajya Lakshmi, said that Ravi Teja doesn’t even smoke and there is no chance of he consuming drugs.
Ravi Teja’s mother also added that after Bharath, her second eldest son and Ravi Teja’s brother, died in a road accident, their family has been saddened and are going through a tough phase. And even in such tough phase of life, Ravi Teja is shooting for his film so that the producers of the film are not at loss, added Rajya Lakshmi.
The Telangana Excise Department is said to have given notices to many top celebrities from Tollywood to appear for the questioning in connection with drug case between July 19th and 26th, according to reports.
