Prabhas starrer Baahubali 2 to hit screens in Russia and Japan

In 2015, Telugu star Prabhas became the darling of the nation when ‘Baahubali’ opened to a thunderous response at the box office while receiving rave reviews along the way. In it, he essayed a double role and gave strong proof of abilities as a performer. Nearly two years later, Prabhas mania gripped the nation again when ‘Baahubali 2’ opened to a phenomenal response at the ticket window and redefined the very tenets of cinema. An SS Rajamouli directorial, it grabbed plenty of attention courtesy its gripping storyline and Prabhas-Anushka’s crackling chemistry. Talking about its success in the Hindi belt, Bollywood star Salman Khan had said that the team deserved full credit for coming up with a film that clicked with the Hindi audience.

“The most amazing thing about Baahubali’s success is that the Hindi audiences are so accepting. They have made a Telugu film so large, even though they do not know south heroes apart from three or four of them. South audiences know us there; yet, our films do not do that volume of business because their fans have an extraordinary sense of loyalty to their actors. Fan following is very strong — if there is a Kamal Haasan fan, then he will be a Kamal fan forever; Rajinikanth fan will be a Rajinikanth fan for life,” he had added.

Now, ‘Baahubali’ mania is set to reign supreme again. In an exciting development, ‘Baahubali 2’ is all set to hit screens in Russia and Japan. Confirming this, producer Shobu Yarlagadda shared the trailer of the Russian version as well as an invite for the Tokyo screening. Well, this is some awesome news and proves that ‘Baahubali’ truly is a global phenomenon.

In case you did not know,  the ‘Baahubali’ saga revolved around the war between two brothers over an ancient kingdom. Init, Prabhas essayed the titular character while Rana Daggubati played the cruel antagonist Bhallaldeva. Talking about working with T-town’s ‘Rebel’, Rana had said the he dedicated five years to the magnum opus and did a swell job.

“An actor like him giving 5-6 years of his life for a film is quite unbelievable. He stood like a pillar for Baahubali. Many a times we all fumbled during the making but he stood behind the film like a pillar. He used to tell Rajamouli on sets – “Darling, yelanti cinema chesthunam thelusa?? International cinema chesthunnam darling (Do you realise the kind of film that we are making? It’s an international film!)“. He was somebody on the sets who was inspiring everyone constantly,” he had told Pinkvilla South.

Besides Prabhas-Rana, the ‘Baahubali’ saga also had Tamannaah and Anushka Shetty in the lead. The supporting cast featured names such as Ramya Krishnan, Nasser and Sathyaraj.

On a related note, Prabhas is currently shooting for ‘Saaho’. The film is an action-thriller and is being directed by Sujeeth. Besides Prabhas, it also features Shraddha Kapoor and Neil Nitin Mukesh in the lead. A while ago, the ‘Baaghi’ star had revealed that is excited about shooting for ‘Saaho’ alongside Telugu cinema’s darling.

“I  am very excited as it’s my first multi-lingual film, to be shot in Telugu and Hindi. It’s a fabulous character and a great story. It’s going to be very challenging as well. You do the same scenes again in two different languages. My Telugu coaching is on and I am enjoying it — it’s fascinating that there are eight different ways that you can say ‘no’ in Telugu,” she had told a daily.

As far as Rana is concerned, he is currently shooting for ‘1945’ which is a Tamil-Telugu bilingual and will see him essay the role of a soldier. Besides this, he also has ‘Haathi Mere Saathi’ in his kitty. The film is a tribute to the yesteryear classic on the same name and will be helmed by Prabhu Solomon.
