Actor Satyadev, who shot to fame with his role in Charmee Kaur starrer Jyothi Lakshmi, will soon make his debut in Bollywood with a film that has a terrorist backdrop. Directed by Jennifer Alphonsse, the film was shot in Afghanistan and is the first film to be shot in that war-raged country after Bollywood film Kabul Express. Satyadev will play the central character in the film and will also have numerous other actors from Afghanistan including Hanif Haum Ghum who played the driver, Khyber, in Kabul Express and Afghani actress Hasiba Ebrahami playing pivotal roles. “The cast also includes 30 Afghani actors who were shortlisted from 100 actors registered with the Afghanistan Film Organis-ation for the auditions. It was an unforgettable experience, and couldn’t have found a better film to debut in Hindi cinema,” Satyadev was quoted as saying by TOI.
Titled Habeeb, the film is directed by Jennifer Alphonsse, who also hails from Hyderabad, and is has a terrorism backdrop. Speaking about shooting for the film in Afghanistan, Satya Dev says, “We shot for close to 30 days in places like Kabul, Jalalabad, Tokram, Panjsher and a few other places for the film. Once when I was in the middle of a shot I heard an explosion suddenly. Jennifer told me it was a mine blast and we continued to shoot. But after we packed up, she told me that the explosions we heard were the result of a clash between Pakistan army and Taliban that took place some five Kms away from where we were shooting.”
