Actor Remya Nambeesan is a multi-talented personality and has appeared in many Tamil and Malayalam films. Remya has been one of the most vocal actors in the South Indian film industries and hasn’t hesitated ever to speak out. Speaking about casting couch in films, Remya said that she never experienced that but does acknowledge it’s existence. “I am not ignoring the fact that my co actors and friends have spoken about the bad influence that exists in the industry. But, fortunately I have not gone through this. I have been very sure about what I am doing and I always learned to say no to whatever I didn’t want to do,” Remya Nambeesan was quoted as saying by TOI.
She further adds that she is ashamed that it does exist and happened to very close friends of her. “But, I am ashamed that my friends have faced such issues, I am not saying it is not there because I haven’t gone through this, but I don’t have a personal experience. I think the only way to get rid of this is by speaking about it. Now, we have several platforms to talk about it and people are actually listening to what you say. This is not a problem that exists only in cine industry, but everywhere. So, women should be strong and talk about it,” Remya Nambeesan added further speaking about the issue.
Right from the Malayalam actress assault case to the latest casting couch allegations in Tollywood by Sri Reddy, a lot has been happening over the last couple of years in South Indian cinema. While few women are speaking out now, industry insiders say that there are a lot of women who were exploited by industry people but those women would never speak about because of fear of losing opportunities.
