Nagarjuna in a still from Soggade Chinni Nayana

A few days ago, rumours of Ravi Teja replacing veteran actor Nagarjuna in the sequel to ‘Soggade Chinni Nayana’ began doing the rounds. And, as expected, these rumours created quite a buzz amongst fans of Telugu cinema. Now, it seems that there was no truth behind these reports. During a recent chat with a leading daily, director Kalyan Kumar said that he will indeed be working with Ravi Teja but it will be for an  entirely different film. He went on to add that only Nagarjuna can do justice to ‘Bangarraju’—the sequel to ‘Soggade Chinni Nayana’–  and hence will definitely be playing the lead in it.

“The project being contemplated with Ravi Teja has a completely different script. Bangarraju will be made only with Nagarjuna sir and he alone fits the bill. Since Soggade… was such a big hit, there are a lot of expectations surrounding the sequel. So I’m taking my time with the script. Once it’s ready and Nag sir gives the go-ahead, it will go on floors,” he added.

Well, this is quite a clear statement and could go a long way in putting all rumours to rest. In case you did not know, ‘Soggade Chinni Nayana’ was a supernatural-drama and hit screens in 2016. Besides Nag, it also featured Ramya Krishnan and Lavanya Tripathi in the lead. The supporting cast included names such as Nasser, Sampath Raj and Brahmanandam.
