Sri Reddy Saga: Women artists accuse popular producer Vakada Appa Rao who once worked closely with Chiranjeevi

The Sri Reddy row over casting couch is taking a drastic turn each day. Telugu actress Sri Reddy’s semi-nude protest against the unacknowledged casting couch drew a severe backlash from the film fraternity but she, ultimately won the battle when MAA lifted the ban on her.

Following the allegations regarding the casting couch by Sri Reddy, many other small actresses have come out revealing their experiences over the same. In a live TV debate, few actresses have accused that producer Vaakada Appa Rao, who works with Super Good Films, harassed them.

Many of the female junior artists alleged that the producer of Telugu cinema industry, Vakada Appa Rao, used them. One of them revealed that Appa Rao exploited her sexually to give her an opportunity to star in a film while the other accuses that the producer used mother and daughter in order to hike the payment by a thousand, reports Gulte.com.

Vakada Appa Rao was contacted on phone by the TV channel and he imitated ignorance about all of these allegations. He reacted saying that the women artists are putting wrong allegations in order to take revenge as they were not given roles.

During the debate, one woman asked him, “Why is your voice trembling? Are you fearing that your cover will be exposed to Megastar Chiranjeevi and his family with whom you are working closely? Also, Megastar Chiranjeevi sir should respond about this. When such bad things are going on in industry, why are you silent andi?? Come and show your heroism please” she said.

Meanwhile, Sri Reddy has said this is not the end and she will continue her fight. Talking about the recent development in the Sri Reddy row, recently NHRC sent notices to the Telangana government and the Union Information and Broadcasting Ministry over the matter.

Following the National Human Rights Commission’s intervention in the matter, Movie Artists Association (MAA) took the decision and lifted the ban on the actress.

At least she has the guts and is trying. I support her. Ladies are harassed and used all the time in every field. Sri Reddy – Please don’t stop – continue your fight. All women are with you.

A dumb actor called Rakul Preet Singh said she never faced such situations. What crap. So far no actress that reached a good position has acknowledged the existence of casting couch. Standard response is I never faced such situations. I already had big platform before coming to films or I was not relying only on films but I heard that it happened to few people. It happens everywhere just that movies get attention.

Is this how you react when a colleague says she is a victim of systemic problem? Lot of people roll in the mud when they get mention in Hollywood. So many top actresses came out and acknowledged the problem and how they have been victims of it.

NO. IT DOES NOT HAPPEN EVERYWHERE. Code of conduct are well defined and enforced in all other industries. It is rampant only in show biz.

Rakul reminds me of those Mothers in Law who kill their Daughters in Law for dowry. The kind of woman who will throw other women under the bus for material gain. Ghastly woman!

This story should be covered on your front page Pinkvilla. Not the regional section. There are a lot of junior artists are coming out now. The more coverage they get, the better of it is to address the issue as part of Times up in India. It’s actually an opportunity that doesn’t come very often.

Finally, this is gaining stream and I’m glad to see that. The toxic culture of using women in tollywood is just nauseating. I’ve seen them become victims to businessmen, politicians and film people. It’s either by force and coercion and making them feel like there is no other choice. The worst thing is all the so called heroes are just heroes onscreen, offscreen they are just mute cowards. Leave sri reddy, but atleast come out and address the issue for heaven’s sake! Shame on them!!!

It’s worse. This man for example $exualy exploited minors. He’s a paedophile who raped children for god’s sake! That’s how perverted TFI is. But no, MAA won’t ban him!
