Temples built in the name of their favourite actors or celebrities is not a new thing in India, especially in South India. Actors Rajinikanth, Mohanlal, Mammootty, Chiranjeevi, Khusboo, Sridevi and many other celebrities are amongst the list who have temples built on their name. The admirers perform all the daily rituals like they would do to a deity.
The latest to get added to the list is dynamic filmmaker Puri Jagannadh. Puri enjoys a mass following in both the Telugu states and his work is greatly admired by them. Prabhakar, a diehard fan of the director, expressed his love for Puri Jagannadh by building a statue for him in Karimnagar district.
Hailing from Kondapur town in Karimnagar in Telangana, Prabhakar has grown up watching Puri Jagannadh’s film and considers the director his mentor. Puri’s son Akash attended the unveiling ceremony and posted a message on his social networking page.
“Privileged, Honoured..Proud Son… Can’t wait to reveal this memorable Day In My Life..Very Happy To Witness Your Statue and it is your Replication…Its All About How People Love You…Love You Nanna..Thank You Prabhakar For The Overwhelming Love,” wrote Akash in his message.
Puri Jagannadh has delivered some blockbuster hits in his career like Pokiri, Idiot, Businessman and Amma Naana O Tamil Ammayi. He is considered one of the dynamic film makers in Telugu and has a mass following in the Telugu speaking states.
Lately, Puri hasn’t been in great form. His latest release, Rogue, bombed at the box office and did not do as expected by the film makers. Puri is currently working on an untitled with Nandamuri Balakrishna.
