Tollywood will witness multiple biopics being made this year which will have top stars from South Indian cinema playing the titular roles. While Keerthy Suresh will be seen playing yesteryear actor Savitri in Mahanati, Nandamuri Balakrishna will be seen playing his father N.T.Rama Rao in his biopic. There is another biopic in the making currently which will be on politician and former Chief Minister of the then united Andhra Pradesh Y.S.Rajasekhara Reddy. The biopic on YSR will have Malayalam megastar Mammootty playing the titular role and will be directed by Anando Bramha director Mahi Raghav. The official announcement was made recently by the makers and the shooting may begin from mid of this year. Since the biopic will have characters based on Y.S.Rajasekhara Reddy’s son, Y.S.Jagan and other politicos, rumours are rife that many top stars are in consideration for those roles. Reports are doing rounds that Tamil star Suriya Sivakumar may be seen playing Y.S.Jagan in this biopic although the makers are yet to reveal the complete details about the cast. If this materialises, then it will be one of the biggest biopics in South India.

Speaking about Suriya being part of the biopic, director Mahi Raghav had said recently that these are just rumours and they are yet to finalise the cast. “No! Those rumours are completely false. We haven’t approached anybody else yet. So far, my sole focus till date was on getting the right actor for the lead role. Now that it’s been finalised, I will work on the rest of the cast,” Mahi Raghav had said. However, film circles in Telugu and Tamil are abuzz with the news that Suriya is the lead contender for the role of Y.S.Jagan in YSR biopic.

The biopic will mostly be around the Pada Yatra the politician had taken up back in mid 2000s and won the election post the travel across the state.
